Set the right expectation

A car wash and a detail
do different jobs.

A quality car wash removes everyday exterior dirt and improves the vehicle’s appearance. The detail information below is educational, helping customers understand deeper vehicle care and when a separate detailing provider may be appropriate.

IMPORTANT SERVICE NOTE
METROSHINE does not offer detailing services.

We provide this comparison to explain what a car wash can accomplish, set realistic expectations, and help you make informed decisions about maintaining your vehicle.

01

Self-service wash

BEST FOR

Best for hands-on control and targeting the areas you notice most.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You choose the products, pressure, time, and technique. Results depend on the time and attention you put into the wash.

WHAT IT IS NOT

It does not automatically include interior cleaning, paint correction, stain removal, or hand-applied paste wax.

02

Touch-free automatic

BEST FOR

Best for convenient routine exterior cleaning without rotating brushes.

WHAT TO EXPECT

High-pressure water and wash chemistry remove everyday dust, loose dirt, and normal road grime while you stay in the vehicle.

WHAT IT IS NOT

Bonded contaminants, heavy road film, sap, tar, oxidation, scratches, and interior dirt may require separate treatment.

03

Touch-free + attendant hand wash

BEST FOR

Best when the vehicle needs more physical attention than touch-free equipment alone can provide.

WHAT TO EXPECT

An attendant hand washes the exterior in the bay, then the touch-free equipment completes the process.

WHAT IT IS NOT

It is still a car wash—not paint correction or a full interior and exterior detail.

04

Professional full detail — not offered here

BEST FOR

A separate detailing provider may be appropriate for deep restoration, neglected interiors, bonded contamination, or correcting the finish.

WHAT TO EXPECT

For education: a detail may take hours and can include interior extraction, decontamination, clay treatment, polishing, paint correction, and hand-applied protection.

WHAT IT IS NOT

METROSHINE does not provide detailing. This comparison is included only to help customers understand the difference and maintain their vehicles.

METROSHINE provides car-wash services, not detailing. The detail information is here to support better vehicle care and realistic wash expectations.
Car-care education

Protect the clean.
Extend the shine.

Good care between visits helps protect the finish and keeps ordinary dirt from becoming a harder detailing problem later.

REMOVE PROMPTLYBugs and bird droppings can damage paint. They can stain or etch the finish—especially when baked onto the vehicle by Oklahoma’s hot sun. Remove them as soon as practical.
PASTE-WAX GUIDELINEEvery 3–4 monthsAdjust for weather, outdoor parking, product instructions, and finish condition.
01How often should I wash my vehicle?+

For routine use, every one to two weeks is a practical starting point. Wash sooner after heavy bug exposure, bird droppings, tree sap, road salt, or visible contamination. Bug residue and bird droppings can stain or etch paint, especially when baked onto the finish by Oklahoma’s hot sun. Weather, parking, mileage, and paint color all affect the right schedule.

02How often should I apply hand paste wax?+

A traditional hand-applied paste wax is generally useful about three to four times per year, or roughly every three to four months. Vehicles parked outdoors or exposed to harsh sun and weather may need protection more often. Always follow the wax manufacturer’s instructions.

03Does a wash-bay wax replace hand-applied paste wax?+

No. A wash-applied protectant can boost gloss and water behavior between deeper care sessions, but it should not be treated as the same process as preparing clean paint and applying a dedicated paste wax or sealant by hand.

04Why did some spots remain after the wash?+

A wash is designed to remove ordinary surface dirt. Tar, sap, mineral deposits, industrial fallout, embedded brake dust, oxidation, and stains can bond to a surface and may need specialized chemicals, clay treatment, polishing, or professional detailing.

05How can I keep the vehicle cleaner between washes?+

Park under cover when practical, remove bird droppings and bug residue promptly, avoid household dish detergent, keep a clean automotive microfiber towel available, and maintain a regular wax or sealant schedule.

06When should I consider a full detail?+

Consider detailing when the interior needs extraction or stain treatment, the paint feels rough after washing, water spots remain, oxidation or swirl marks are visible, or you want paint correction and longer-lasting hand-applied protection.
